Uploading a Listing
There are two ways to load your listings into the Vuulr Marketplace
- One at a time via a Web form
- Bulk load via an Excel template
Webform Listing
This method of listing content allows you to quickly upload a listing by filling in the details for the Content to create a listing on the marketplace. This process takes about five minutes (per listing).
This method follows the sequence below:
- Listing Details
- Key artwork--the poster or ‘cover art’ for the content you are listing.
- Listing details--for example: synopsis, run-time
- Production details--for example: producer, director
- Awards--any awards your listing has won or been nominated for
- Add the metadata information that will form your listing:
- Media Uploads
- Add trailer/screener and also any additional images etc.
- Set Rights
- Enter the ‘Availability’ for the listing
- Enter the ‘Unavailability’ for the listing
Bulk Load Listing
This method is helpful if you have multiple listings to make.
This process involves filling out an Excel spreadsheet and then sending it to us. Here’s how it works:
- The template is downloaded and filled out
- Completed template is sent in via listings@vuulr.com
- We will look over your data and get back to you if anything is missing
- We upload your listings to the Vuulr website & let you know
Uploading Content Via Webform
Step 1: Upload ‘Key Artwork’
‘Key artwork’ is the poster or ‘cover art’ for the content you are listing.
These are the requirements for the image:
- The image must be in one of the following formats: .JPG, .PNG or .JPEG
- The image must be in a 2:3 aspect ratio - 1280x1920 would be perfect.
Step 2: Listing Title
This is the title of the content that you are listing. English titles are preferred. If the title of your listing is in another language, please indicate which language with the adjacent drop-down menu.
Step 3: Synopsis
The synopsis (summary) of your listing should be no more than 2,000 words.
A listing can be found by searching for the words in its synopsis, so it is important that your synopsis is thorough and well-written.
If you are copying and pasting your synopsis from an external source, please be cautious for any hidden or special characters.
Step 4: Type of Content & Run Time
Use the drop-down menu to specify the type of content you are listing.
The options to choose from are :
- Film
- TV Series
- TV Show/Special
- Web Series
- Short Form
- eSport
- AR/VR
- Not Specified
The type of content you are uploading correlates with the way the run-time is entered.
Any type of content with more than one episode/part is considered either a ‘TV series’ or ‘web series’.
Each season to a series should have its own listing, thus a Series that has 3 Seasons should have 3 listings.
If you are uploading a one-off piece of TV content--for example, a documentary--please select ‘TV Show / Special’.
If you select ‘TV series’ or ‘web series’ (an episodic listing), then you will be asked to provide the season number, the number of episodes, and the runtime for a single episode (if the episodes are of differing length, please put the average runtime).
Step 5: Format
Please indicate the format your content is available in.
You have four options:
- SD
- HD
- 4K
- 8K
If your content is available in multiple formats, please select all those applicable.
Step 6: Audio / Dubbing / Subtitle Languages
Please indicate which language(s) your content is available in.
If it is available in multiple languages, you can type in as many as you like. However, be sure to hit the ‘enter’ key after typing in each individual one. Here is an example:
You can also indicate which language(s) are available in a dubbed version and/or subtitles.
Step 7: Censorship Rating
Indicate in the drop-down menu the censorship rating of your film.
Step 8: Genre(s)
Pick all the genres that are applicable for your listing. There is a list below for reference.
List of Genres:
Action, Adult, Adventure, Anime, Animation, Children's, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Education, Erotic, Faith and Spirituality, Family, Fantasy, Food, Horror, Independent, Instructional, Lifestyle, Live Performance, Magazine, Music Performance, Musical, Mystery, Reality, Romance, Science Fiction, Sports, Suspense, Thriller, Variety/Talk Show, Western, Miscellaneous.
Step 9: Keywords
The ‘keyword’ field allows you to enter an unlimited number of keywords that will help your listing show up in search results.
It is not necessary to repeat an of the words used in the synopsis as this is automatically searched.
The ‘keyword’ section can be used creatively:
- Can describe the feeling of the content eg Dark, Disturbing, Uplifting, Inspiring etc
- Can describe key themes eg betrayal, loyalty, suffering, sacrifice
- Can provide synonyms for key descriptors to make sure your content gets found regardless of which terms the buyer uses in their search eg Wedding, Marriage, Nuptial, Matrimony, Matrimonial, Married, Bridal, Bride, Groom, Best Man, Maid of Honour, Fiancee, Newlywed, Spouse
Step 10: Production Studios
Enter the studio(s) that produced the content. If a certain studio has been entered before, it will autocomplete to save you from having to type it fully again. Press the ‘enter’ key after typing in each individual studio.
Step 11: Production Status
Please indicate the production status of your content. The available options are ‘released’ or ‘un-released’.
The ‘year of production’ is optional, but the ‘year of release’ is mandatory. Please fill out the ‘year’ fields in YYYY format.
Step 12: Country of Origin
Provide a listing of the primary countries in which your listing originates (one or more)--this is not a listing of the filming locations.
Step 13: Cast and Crew
Cast: provide the names of four or five key cast members; focus on the recognizable names. This will help buyers find your listing if they are interested in purchasing content featuring a specific actor. (This is optional but highly recommended.)
Producers: provide the names of the key producers. Focus on the recognizable names and / or those producers with higher responsibilities in the production. This will help buyers find your listing if they're interested in purchasing content featuring a specific producer. (This is optional but highly recommended.)
Directors: Provide the name of the director (or a list of if there are more than one). This will help buyers find your listing if they're interested in purchasing content featuring a specific director. (If the listing is for a FILM, this field is mandatory. Otherwise, it is optional but highly recommended.)
Step 14: Awards and Revenue
Please specify the awards your film has either won or has been nominated for. Remember to hit ‘enter’ after each individual award!
For films, you can enter both the domestic and global box office. For other types of listings, please leave this field empty.
No need for currency symbols or commas in the field. You can indicate the currency in the drop-down menu.
Congratulations - you have completed the major part of listing your content!
Click ‘Save and Continue’ to submit this information, and proceed to add the media assets and avails.
If you have missed any fields, the page will reload and they will be highlighted in red. Scroll back to find any fields with errors so you can fix them.
Step 15: Trailers / Screeners / Video Assets
At least one video should be provided: a trailer or screener; you can provide both if you wish.
There are two ways to provide a video:
- Upload a file
- Embed a link (URL)
You can use both ways if you have some video assets as files and some loaded on Vimeo.
When uploading a video, please consider our preferred tech specs:
Video Codec: H.264.
Frame rate: usually 29.97, but 24 and 25 are accepted as well.
Size and bitrate:
- Recommended 1280×720 for 720p HD video, 5Mbs – 10Mbs bitrate
- Also allowed
- 640×480 for standard definition 4:3 video, 2Mbs – 5Mbs bitrate

- 1920×1080 for 1080p HD video, 10Mbs – 20Mbs bitrate
Sound codec: AAC-LC (Advanced Audio Codec)
Sound sample rate: 48 kHz
Audio quality: constant bitrate f 320 kbps
For embedding a video, we support Vimeo. Simply put the URL of your video into the field.
Please make sure the privacy settings are appropriate; see
https://help.vimeo.com/hc/en-us/articles/224817847-Privacy-settings-overview
The privacy settings should be set to one of the following:
- Anyone
- Only people with the private link
- Hide this video from vimeo.com
You may also upload any additional videos if necessary.
Step 16: Pamphlets / Additional Images
Optionally, you can also add a pamphlet/brochure (as a ‘.PDF’) to complement your listing.
You can also provide additional images. Up to 10 additional images can be uploaded.
Images should be of a standard image format (e.g. .JPG or .PNG), and of any aspect ratio.
If these are posters, it is recommended they fit a 2:3 aspect ratio and have a minimum resolution of 1280x1920.
If these are ‘still’ images, it is recommended they fit a 16:9 (for HD) or 4:3 (for SD) aspect ratio and have a minimum resolution of 2560x1440 or 1200x900 respectively.
Congratulations! - you have loaded all the media assets for your listing. Click ‘continue’ to submit them and move on the to the final step, the avails for your listing.
Step 17: Rights
On the ‘Rights’ page, we use a simple 2 step process :
- Define the set of all available rights (avails)
- Define any rights that are not available (unavails)
Each step can be ‘looped’ (creating multiple individual packages) in order to allow you to precisely define the overall rights position you need.
Setting available rights:
The default ‘Available Rights Package 1’ is: indefinite; all rights; global.
This would typically be the situation if you hold the IP (i.e. the Originator or Primary Rights Holder) for the content, meaning it is ‘your’ film or show.
If you are a distributor or only have a restricted set of rights, click edit in the top right of the package builder to adjust it.
When editing, the licence period can be ‘indefinitly’.
You can adjust the ‘period’ if your rights start at a date and continue for a certain amount of time (e.g. you have distribution rights starting 1st October 2018 for 3 years). Be sure to select ‘fixed term’.
Types of rights: you may have ‘all’ rights or ‘limited’ rights available to sell--please indicate which.
Select one or multiple of the above to represent the rights types you have available to sell.
You may be able to sell to a ‘global’ or a ‘limited’ set of regions/countries.
To define the set of countries in which you are able to sell to, choose limited.
Selecting ‘limited’ will reveal the ‘select region’ field.
Enter the names of all the countries you can sell the listing to.
You can use region names (e.g. Europe, Asia, SE Asia) which will auto-expand to their constituent countries to save you time.
When you have completed adjusting the Available Rights Package, click ‘save package’.
Use the ‘add available rights’ button to repeat the above sequence to build a new Available Rights Package.
Building multiple Available Rights Packages allows you to easily represent any non-overlapping rights availability (e.g. you have rights for Asia starting 1/1/2019 and rights for Europe starting 1/6/2019).
Setting unavailable rights:
If some rights need to be captured as ‘unavailable’--either because they have been sold or because distribution rights have been carved out, use the ‘Add Unavailable Rights’ button.
This will reveal the ‘Unavailable Rights Package Builder’.
Please specify the unavailability--’all’ rights or ‘limited’ rights.
Here is an example that represents a free-to-air sold exclusive, Pay TV & SVOD non-exclusive in Singapore starting on 1 October 2018 for 2 years.
Click ‘save package’ once you are done with this section.
When buyers want to check to see if the rights they want are available, their ‘desired rights’ are compared by the system against the union of all the ‘Available + Unavailable’ rights packages.
Once you have finished, click the ‘complete’ button.
Congratulations! You have completed the creation of a listing.
