As content is global, a specific Film or TV show likely will have multiple regional titles.
To ensure alignment with relevant industry standards bodies, Vuulr has adopted EIDR's Title Class structure to how categorize the various titles.
When adding a Listing in Vuulr's Marketplace, you can choose to provide one or more Titles for the Listing and it is encouraged to specify the class of the Title if known.
Title Class Options
- release - Title as released. This name should appear in the credits for modern commercial works.
- regional - Regional title that may be in the same language as the original. Can be used for foreign titles.
- transliterated - Most commonly used for Romanized versions of titles originally in non-Roman scripts (such as a Chinese title in hanzi).
Example:
For the movie "Avatar", "ā fán dá" is the transliterated title of 阿凡达, but the Roman title never actually appears in the work itself (or localized versions) and is provided only as a convenience for non-Chinese speakers.
- broadcast - If a broadcast release has a different name. Should not be used for the primary title.
- abbreviated - Shortened version of a longer title. Example: "Prince Caspian" for "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".
- working - Working title such as "Eight Arms to Hold You" for "Help!". Might be used for a pre-release registration that is later replaced with the actual title. This generally is not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- acronym - SATC for "Sex and the City". Provide only if commonly used. Should not be used for the primary title. This generally is not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- fan-based - What fans call the work. Provide only if commonly used. Should not be used for the primary title. This generally is not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- internal - Any internal or code name. Use only if necessary. Should not be used for the primary title. This generally is not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- AKA - Also Known As. Could be used for a Series that has changed its name, such as "The Hollywood Squares" which later became simply "Hollywood Squares". Could be used for a re-titled home entertainment release in the original language. This is generally not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- FKA - Formerly Known As. Could be used if a Series has changed its name and you know this one came earlier. This is generally not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
- other - Used when no other type fits. Might be used for a descriptive title given by an archive for an actuality. This generally is not used in Vuulr's Marketplace.
