There are two ways Buyers can discover and search for content easily and intuitively on the marketplace:
- Search by Listings
- Search by Sellers
This article will cover the Search by Listings option. This can be accessed by selecting the second option on the left Discover Menu:
There are two key functions for finding content - Search and Filtering. These both work together and below, we'll explain how each work.
Search
Search is pretty straight forward - effectively any piece of metadata associated with a Listing (be it the Listing's title, synopsis, cast and crew, keywords, etc) are searchable. The search functionality is fuzzy, which means it should handle simple spelling mistakes and similar or close matches as well.
As you start typing, the Listings will immediately filter down to matching results, giving you real-time feedback.
Filtering
To help narrow down results, we've included several fields that Listings can be filtered against.
Applying Single Filter
Within a specific filter, such as Type, selecting more than one Type will result in Listings being returned that match either of the Types selected. Example: Film and TV Series are selected. The resulting Listings will be either Film OR TV Series.
All the filters work in the same manner except for Genre, where there's a little toggle above the genre names.
E.g. You toggle ON, and selected Action AND Adventure. In the filter results, you will see listings that belong to both genres Action AND Adventure. This is especially useful if you are looking for specific content that matches all the genres you have selected, but do note that the returned results would usually be much lesser!
E.g. You toggle OFF, and selected Action OR Adventure. In the filter results, listings will be shown as long as they belong to ANY selected genre. Comparing to the above, toggling off gives you more search results, and you should turn it off if you are looking for less specific content.
Applying Multiple Filters
Using more than one filter at a time results in Listings that match both filters. If Genre Animation and Country of Origin Canada are selected, then only Listings that are Animated that originate from Canada will appear.
Using Search and Filters together
Adding search to the filter mix operates like an Intersection. Using the above examples, Animated programs from Canada, if we add the search term Howard, then we'll get all Canadian animated programs that have some relevance to Howard.
