Vuulr offers Sellers a simple way to manage a Listing's Avails according to the following constraints:
- Time
- Geography
- Rights Format
- Exclusivity
Together, a specific combination of these constraints forms a "Rights Package". When configuring the Avails of a Listing, they need to be entered in a Packages. A Seller can add one or more "Available Package" and zero or more "Sold Packages".
The marketplace will then combine all these packages and present the Buyer a dynamic Rights grid when making an offer. See Make an Offer for more information.
"Think of it like starting from a single Available Rights Package, and then you slowly take Avails away with Sold Rights Packages."
Where do I start?
If you are adding a new listing, navigate to 'Step 3 - Set Rights' of the journey.
If you've already published your listing, mouse over the poster and click on "Manage Avails". To find out which of your Listings require an update, select the "Listings with unknown avails status" checkbox on the My Listings page.
Available Rights
For most Sellers, a simple Indefinite, Global, All rights package can be created.
This means, any buyer can create an offer for any package covering any territory, for any time period.
If the Seller is a Distributor with a subset of Rights they're responsible for, then a tighter Rights Package can be configured.
In the above example, the Seller only has a 5 year, All Rights license for Oceania. When a Buyer makes an offer for this title, the offer would need to be constructed to fit within these Avails constraints.
As mentioned above, multiple Available Packages can be configured that can intersect or complement each other. The Seller has ultimate flexibility here.
If a Seller wishes to restrict Offers to be Avails compliant, at least one Available Rights Package must be created, and set to Avails Intelligence ON. Learn more about how our Avails Intelligence can help you get more exposure for your listings!
Sold Rights
Now that the system knows that is available the Seller can then add any Sold packages that represent Rights already sold, or otherwise blocked from sale. These could be sales that occurred off platform (before registering on Vuulr perhaps). As the system will allow any number of Sold Rights, Sellers may find it useful to create one for each contract.
In the example above, a Buyer licensed Exclusive Pay TV and Transport, and Non-Exclusive S-VOD Rights in South East Asia, for an indefinite period.
On Vuulr when Offers are accepted, those Sold Rights Packages will show up in this view as well, providing the Seller a holistic view of the title's Avails.
When the Buyer makes an offer for the Listing, the system will combine the Available Rights packages with the Sold Rights packages and present a complete dynamic picture of the title's Avails. See Make an Offer for more information.
Distributor Rights
There's a special category of Rights Packages and these are Avails that can be assigned to another entity fork distribution rights. By assigning these Rights Packages to another company, you're giving them the right to manage offers on your behalf on Vuulr.
What the above example is doing is assigning Exclusive distribution rights for S-VOD and A-VOD to "Company B" for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 for the North American region.
To the Buyer, these "Distributor Rights" will be included in the current Avails picture.
