How does a Request for Proposal (RFP) differ from an Offer (for Buyers)?
Requests for Proposal are almost the same as an Offer, with the same key parameters specified (territory, timeframe, rights type & exclusivity).
The only difference is that you perhaps do not know where to start the Offer from a price point of view. So we give you the option to launch a RFP instead, asking the Seller to propose a starting price for the license fee.
After they respond with a Proposal, the Offer/Counter-offer process is identical.
You would review the proposed price, as well as any other amended Terms (eg exclusivity), and Accept and Counter-offer (or Decline, giving a reason, which is important as it keeps the Sellers informed, and perhaps propose other title ideas).
You will know you have received a Proposal back from the Seller in the same way as an Offer: you will see a new alert in your Notifications (the small bell in the top right menu bar) - or when browsing in your Dashboard/Negotiations menu items. These 'Open' deals (Offer Sent/Received) are pending and need the most attention.
